🔬 What to Know Before Your Brow Tattoo Appointment

Cosmetic brow tattooing is a semi-permanent treatment designed to enhance and define your natural brow shape. To ensure the best outcome, it's important to prepare your skin and follow all pre-care instructions closely. This helps support pigment retention, reduce sensitivity, and optimise healing.

📅 1–2 Weeks Before Your Appointment

• Avoid injectables. No anti-wrinkle injections or dermal fillers around the brows for at least 14 days before treatment.
• Stop active skincare. Discontinue retinol, AHAs, BHAs, vitamin C, and prescription creams on or around the brow area.
• No tanning or fake tan. Your skin must be its natural tone. Avoid sunburn, solariums, and tanning products.
• Medication awareness. Let us know if you're taking blood thinners, antibiotics, or any medication that affects healing.
• No chemical peels or lasers. Do not have peels, microneedling, or laser on the face for at least 2 weeks prior.

🧴 3–5 Days Before Treatment

• Hydrate and nourish. Drink water and keep skin moisturised with a barrier-supporting cream (e.g. Barrier+ or Harmony+).
• No waxing or tinting. Avoid waxing, plucking, tinting, or brow lamination. Let your brows grow naturally.
• Skip harsh treatments. No exfoliants, peels, or skin-sensitising products near the brows.
• Check for skin conditions. If you have eczema, active breakouts, or dermatitis in the area, contact us before your appointment.

📍 On the Day of Your Appointment

• Come with clean skin. No makeup, moisturiser, SPF, or skincare on the brow area.
• Avoid caffeine and alcohol. These can increase sensitivity, bleeding, and swelling.
• Comfort is key. Wear comfortable clothing and relax — we’ll guide you every step of the way.
• Bring your numbing cream. Your numbing cream (ordered from Tugun Compounding Pharmacy) will be self-applied after mapping, in-studio, before your procedure begins.

⚠️ Important Notes

• Brow tattooing is not suitable during pregnancy. If breastfeeding, please consult us beforehand.
• Some fading and touch-ups are normal as brows heal. A perfecting session is recommended 6–8 weeks after your initial treatment.
• Results vary depending on skin type, lifestyle, and adherence to pre- and post-care.
• Not all skin types retain pigment the same. We’ll assess your suitability during consultation.

💫 What to Expect After Your Brow Tattoo

After your treatment, your brows may appear darker, bolder, and slightly swollen. Over the coming days, the colour will soften and the skin may lightly flake. This is a normal part of the healing process as the skin regenerates and the pigment settles.

Proper aftercare ensures even healing, colour retention, and a long-lasting result.

🕊️ First 7–10 Days: Heal, Calm & Protect

• Do not wet the brows for the first 24 hours. From day two onward, gently cleanse around the brows with lukewarm water if needed, using clean hands and patting dry with a tissue.
• Apply a thin layer of SOS+ Balm morning and night from day two onward to protect the area and support barrier repair.
• Do not pick, scratch, or rub the brows. Flaking and itching are normal — allow the skin to shed naturally.
• Avoid all makeup, SPF, or skincare products on the brows until fully healed.
• Sleep on a clean pillowcase and avoid sleeping directly on your face.
• Do not expose the brows to steam, heat, or sweating. Avoid saunas, swimming, and heavy exercise.
• Do not tint, wax, or touch the brows until fully healed and assessed by your artist.

• Avoid direct sun exposure for at least 2 weeks post-treatment.
• Once healed, apply SPF daily over the brow area to prevent pigment from fading.
• Wear a hat outdoors to protect healing skin from UV rays.

❌ Avoid These During Healing

• Retinoids, acids, and active exfoliants on or around the brows.
• Makeup or SPF directly over the tattooed area for at least 7–10 days.
• Scrubs, dermaplaning, peels, or harsh treatments during the healing phase.
• Touching, picking, or rubbing the brows at any stage during peeling.
• Wet environments such as spas, pools, and hot showers.

Your safety is our top priority. Cosmetic brow tattooing is a semi-permanent procedure that involves implanting pigment into the skin. While it is generally safe, there are certain medical conditions and factors that may make you ineligible or require medical clearance before proceeding.

Please review the following contraindications before booking your appointment.

You may NOT be eligible for brow tattooing if you have or are currently experiencing:

• Active cold sores, shingles, or skin infections near the brow area
• Uncontrolled diabetes or poor wound healing
• Blood clotting disorders or the use of blood thinning medications
• History of keloid or hypertrophic scarring
• Autoimmune skin conditions such as lupus, psoriasis, eczema, or vitiligo
• Severe acne, dermatitis, or inflammation in the brow area
• Use of Roaccutane or isotretinoin within the last 6–12 months
• Pregnancy — cosmetic tattooing is not performed while pregnant
• Under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs
• Skin cancer, suspicious lesions, or undiagnosed growths near the treatment area (requires clearance)

If you are breastfeeding:

Please advise us at the time of booking. While treatment may still be possible, we’ll assess your suitability during consultation.

Injectables & Fillers:

Avoid anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers in the brow and forehead area for at least 2 weeks before or after treatment.

Topical Anaesthetic Use:

We recommend the use of a topical anaesthetic (Lignocaine + Epinephrine) to reduce discomfort. This is self-applied in-studio before treatment. Please notify us of any allergies or sensitivities prior to use.
